On December 9,
2021, Hun Sen, Prime Minister of Cambodia, inspected the New Phnom Penh
International Airport Project, which was built by Shanghai Geoharbour
Construction Group. With its technical advantages and management experience,
Geoharbour became the constructor for the airport foundation treatment
designated by the owner. This is another major international airport
construction project in which Geoharbour has participated after Shanghai Pudong
International Airport, Singapore Changi Airport, Jazan Airport in Saudi Arabia,
Jakarta International Airport in Indonesia, and Nakhon Si Thammarat Airport in
Thailand.
The New Phnom
Penh International Airport is located in Kandal and Takéo of Cambodia, with a
total investment of USD 1.5 billion. Covering an area of 2,600 hectares, the
New Phnom Penh International Airport Project is mainly designed to serve the
SEA Games in 2023. The construction of the new airport will not only boost the
development of Cambodia’s tourism industry and attract more international
tourists and investors, but also connect the major economic circles, make
business and cargo transportation faster and more convenient, and further drive
the growth of related industries.
