On August 27, 2018, Xu Shilong, Chairman of Shanghai Geoharbour Construction Group, attended the Symposium on the 5th Anniversary of Promoting the Construction of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) held by the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China in the East Hall of the Great Hall of the People in Beijing as the representative of private enterprises. The Symposium was chaired by Han Zheng. Wang Yi, Minister of Foreign Affairs, He Lifeng, Head of the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), and other leaders delivered speeches in succession. General Secretary Xi attended the Symposium in person and delivered an important speech on the five-year construction achievements, analysis of international risks and opportunities, and future promotion of the BRI.
